Pearls Are for Every Day
There was a time when pearls were saved for weddings, formal dinners and important occasions. Beautiful though they were, they often remained safely tucked away in a jewellery box, waiting for the right moment to be worn.
Today, that has changed. Modern pearl jewellery is far more relaxed, individual and versatile. Pearls are now worn with jeans and knitwear, summer dresses, crisp white shirts and even a favourite T-shirt. A simple pearl pendant can soften an everyday outfit, while a pair of pearl earrings adds effortless polish without feeling overly formal.
Part of this change has come from the wonderful variety of pearls now available. Perfectly round white pearls will always have their place, but Baroque, Coin, Keshi, Edison and Tahitian pearls have introduced different shapes, colours and personalities. Their natural irregularities make each piece feel less conventional and much more individual.
Design has changed too. Combining pearls with gold-filled chains, hoops, gemstones, mother of pearl and contemporary fittings creates jewellery that feels fresh rather than traditional.
And perhaps that is the real beauty of the modern pearl: it doesn't dictate how it should be worn.
A beautiful pearl can accompany you to work, lunch with friends, a weekend away or an evening out. The same piece that looks wonderful with a simple linen shirt can look equally at home with an elegant dress.
Jewellery should be enjoyed, rather than saved.
Pearls no longer wait for an occasion — they make the occasion.
